White Cam

Why do i always have to spot the chicest cameras while queuing for the cashier? (photo not mine)

The other night while my bff and i were chatting by the Coffee Bean cashier waiting for my Moroccan tea latte, i spotted a thirtysomething daddy tinkering with his camera. I had to stop my bff to ask the guy what his camera was. I knew it was a Lumix!! Ooooh, a white one!! Ahhh, haven't seen the LX5 but i kinda like this white Lumix GF1 the guy had.

Should i get it now so i can use it for my next trip? I'm soooo excited!!! Plus, we're going surfing this October. Yay!!! I want a new camera!!!!!!

Bumabaliktad na naman ang sikmura ko ngayong umaga. Ano ba naman ang magagawa ko sa mga taong ayaw sa akin. Nakakaloka na. Ayoko nang magtrabaho. Haay.. Maawa ka.

"Ingat Muna"

I've a family friend who migrated to the U.S. early in his teens. He still speaks Filipino very fluently and tries to talk in Filipino whenever we see each other. This morning i read a facebook message that he's here in the Philippines. He wrote to me in Filipino. So proud of him. Haha, then at the end of the letter he says, "Ingat muna."

I am a true-blooded Filipino, but never in my life have i heard this "ingat muna." Don't know what it means exactly. Did he mean, "bye for now?" Haha, this just made me smile today.

My September Cravings

I've been craving for a lot of things lately. Yes, just when i've decided to cut down on my sugar and lose weight. Eeeeek.

Craving number 1 is chilled taho. There's a restaurant that i always go to to have this but sadly, yesterday, they ran out. I almost snapped when the waiter told me they ran out. How could they do this to me? Haha.

Craving number 2 is Thai food. My ate mitch one day invited me to Tagaytay to do our first annual vision-casting for Bleach. On our way home from Tagaytay, we passed by a mini Thai resto near their house. Tom Yum Kha was heaven.

Craving number 3 is tomato soup. Having tomato soup at home isn't that popular here in the Philippines. You can have it either by eating out at Cibo for instance, or by ordering a special cup from a very friendly stewardess in the plane, but not at home. It's not as popular as Campbell's cream of mushroom as you may think but i'm glad there's Campbell's creamy tomato soup that you can buy at S&R. So i hoarded, sort of.

These are my 3 major-major things this September. And i hope i get tired of them soon because i cannot gain more pounds. Puhleeaze!! I'm nearing 30 for crying out loud. Eeeeek!

My New Wildest Dream

Back in high school, my friend who happened to be the editor-in-chief of our yearbook wrote my profile information beside my lousy graduation picture. At the end of that tiny information, it reads:

Her wildest dream: To sing and dance with Backstreet Boys.

My editor-in-chief friend knew how much i loathed boy bands in the 90s.

I didn't hate her my dear friend when i finally saw our yearbook. I just decided from that day on that i will never ever show that yearbook to anyone. Not even to my future husband.

Last night, i was watching a feature on Nobel Laureates on DW-TV. The recent Nobel Laureate Meeting that happened in July was the highlight of the feature. During the feature, a young Asian guy (not sure if he's Indian) was being interviewed about his experience at the prestigious meeting. From his face i could tell how overwhelmed he was at being there, especially when he ran into his Nobel Laureate idol and had a chit-chat with her (i remember how i blushed when i first saw Kenneth Cobonpue and Cecile Van Straten). When i was watching him talk i was crying inside. In my heart i was telling myself, "someday a Filipino will be in that meeting."

So now i found my next wildest dream: to be invited to a Nobel Laureate meeting. I always say that the sciences is my waterloo. I don't know why, Science just never liked me. But if ever in my wildest dream i get to be invited to this prestigious gathering, i'd tell my colleagues, "you know, i used to memorize the periodic table when i was in sophomore year." Joke lang. But seriously, after all the hostage drama and hopelessness in my country, someday, someday, a Filipino will make it.
