I Wanna Be An Ice Cream Connoisseur

I know. There's nothing like our very own Sorbetes, or what others might call "Mang Untoy's Dirty Ice Cream" ("Mura na, marumi pa!"), but i just happen to lurve and live ice cream!!! And in this my lousy confession, i wouldn't mind being betrayed by my expensive drooling over a Rolls Royce ice cream - Haagen Dazs.

Whenever i pass by a Haagen Dazs parlor, i always get a single scoop of Belgian Chocolate on a cone, but early this year, when they came out with the Dark Chocolate Orange flavor, i thought maybe this might get me a decent dose of Resveratrol and save me half of my guilt so i went ahead and tried it. It wasn't bad. Actually, it was hella good. So one time, after seeing Twilight with my sister, we went to Haagen Dazs on our way out. I was lazy so I just asked my sister to get me the Dark Chocolate Orange. But they ran out so i decided not to get anymore. But she insisted. I considered it again and read the name plates from the outside to check the flavors. The Rum Raisin actually sounded good. So i got it. Man, it was soooooooo goooooood! While devouring the ice cream and unconsciously racing with my sister, i stopped and thought, "how can these people come up with intelligent flavors like this?" Man, i wanted to become an ice cream connoisseur right there and then. Which made me think again, oh no, i still can't get myself to eat the green tea ice cream. Oh, never mind. I went back to devouring my Rum Raisin. This, being the ice cream devourer, would better suit me.

"No Guts, No Glory," Says My Rootcrop Feet

After intimidating myself with the curious opportunities waiting for me in the worldwide web, this is what i ask myself: how on earth did i land in this field again? I found two answers so far: One, by God's wisdom and grace; Two, by walking a lot. With the first i need elaborate no more, with the second let me.

Yep, the second is because i do not only walk fast, but dang, i do walk a lot. And for some reason, i never tire myself out, being an observer and all. Whenever i land on my working arena (which could mean anywhere in the world where i could sashay yet think and overthink), my feet could just not stop moving!!! Try me: hand me all your shopping bags, fill them with encyclopedias, believe me, with them i can stroll down the Fifth Avenue (while meticulously observing) then go straight to the flea market, and there goes my job. Add to that my early trips to the museums. Oh, there goes a very fruitful day, my rootcrop feet cooperating.

Going back to my searching, i've been, again, seeking for the best fashion school to go to. Now, i finally have my school. Giving myself a pat on the back, i'm now narrowing down to choosing the best short courses to take. My next step would be picking the best schedule. But after staring too much at the webpage where i am in, i begin to doubt. Can i make it? Do i have what it takes to be in "it"? Then, there, i go back to the glory of my rootcrop feet. Ugly, garden-hose veins popping out my feet. Oh yes, they are bringing home the bacon. They have brought my life so much learning. And because these feet of mine never gave up on me, neither am i giving up on them. I will not stop dreaming, i will never fail my God and my rootcrop feet. Nevuhh. So i am on my way to that next step for school. Almost there.

Travel Wishlist for 2008

I'm daydreaming...

Here are the places i wish/long (or at least i NEED) to visit:

1. the whole of Bangkok - to witness with my naked eye (if Thailand's third world) how fourth world we've become

2. London - to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Tate Modern (which i missed in '06); and check out Central Saint Martin's College of Design (where i plan/dream to take a few courses - if they plan to accept me); to see Dover Street Market; to tambay at Covent Garden; to see the underground fashion and art scene; and to visit the queen

3. Japan - to see Kabuki (which i also horribly missed in '06); to visit Roponggi Hills and see the newest museum there; to tambay at Daikanyama; to tambay at Aoyama and check out Dover also; to go back to Kyoto and study more of Japan; to visit Shinjuku; to get my Yukata or Kimono; to take more pictures with Harajuku girls

4. Hong Kong - to see the new Comme Des Garcons store and find out how Kawakubo did it this time; to hoard every single bottle of soymilk in every convenience store

5. Boracay - merely for pleasure (which i hardly think would be possible)

What do you think? Too much? I'd work twice as hard, worry not :) But remember, i'm just daydreaming :)
